From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Planners groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
